Hey,

You’ve stumbled on my blog where I talk body confidence, self acceptance, personal style, travel and everything else in between!

I definitely, don’t think my words are any more important than the next, but I hope you find something here that will inspire you.

My Wardrobe Staples

My Wardrobe Staples

Gosh, my style has evolved so much over the years. There was a time my friends would say my style was “hobo chic.” It wasn’t a good look but I loved it.

Now, I’ve really come into my own look and style and I’d say it’s pretty simple and classic with some fun thrown in. So here is a list of pieces that have to be in my closet at all times!

1. Pair of black skinnies

I wear them to work, going out, on dates, the weekend, everywhere! The key is finding one that has great stretch and really fits your body. My hips are a lot wider than my waist, so it can be tricky to find jeans that don’t gap at the waist or aren’t too tight on the thighs. The jeans I’m wearing in this picture are from FashionNova, and think what you may about the brand, their jeans are amazing for women like me.

2. Stripe Tees

I have a lot of cropped striped tees in my closet and don’t know what it is. But whether it’s vertical, horizontal, thick, thin, multicolored or monochromatic—stripes are a simple and easy pattern to change things up a bit.

3.Black maxi dress

Love a good maxi dress and I have a few to prove it. I have a body hugging one with long sleeves and no buttons, this spaghetti straps one with buttons down the front and a split, I also have a flowy cap sleeves one. For me, it’s my preferred LBD and can be worn any occasion.

4. Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is a great transitional layer. This light wash one I’m wearing is great for chillier days in the spring and fall, freezing office spaces in the summer, and under a heavier coat in the winter. It also looks great with just about everything. Makes a dressier outfit a little more relaxed and pulls a causal look together.

5. Blazers

Oh the blazer. You know, I actually started wearing blazers in 7th grade. My mom had this bright blue one with shoulder pads and these black plastic buttons that she kept in her closet and I thought as NJHS president I should totally wear it. Honestly, blazers are a lot like the denim jacket but vice versa—dressing up any outfit. If you want to look like you mean business, wear a blazer and I do not discriminate. Shoulder pads, oversized, linen, buttons, olive green—it doesn’t matter.

6. Trouser Pant

It’s great for going out with my girls, going out on a date, or just going to work. A trouser pant is the ultimate “I’m a professional” wardrobe piece and in a bold color it turns heads without being out of place.

7. Leather Jacket

8. Graphic tees

What better way to give a little insight into who you are than with a graphic T-shirt. I own a ton of T-shirts with funny sayings, interesting designs, or pop culture references. Bands, superheroes, illustrations—whatever it is I’ve got it and love painting them with jeans and a blazer or a skirt and cardigan.

9. Long Cardigan

10. Sleeveless mock neck
